The  company began life in 1895 as a water-powered graphite mill in the small town of Asbury, NJ. More than a century later, with eight product divisions, Asbury Carbons Inc. is the world’s largest independent processor and merchant of refined graphite and other carbons.

The company crushes, refines, grinds, and screens natural and synthetic graphite and related carbon-based minerals to meet the difficult specifications of industries around the world. Asbury supplies the most extensive line of such products currently available, either in bulk or packaged.

Asbury Carbons has mines in Mexico and also imports from many other global sources. It also exports and brokers carbons extensively.

Quality Source

Each Asbury Carbons plant has its own Quality Control Program that assures customers both excellence and traceability of product. All incoming raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products are sampled and tested to assure compliance.

Asbury has sophisticated testing equipment and qualified chemical and ceramic engineers to help you formulate products that best suit your needs.

Foundry Products

For casting industries, Asbury Carbons offers Charge Carbon, Recarburizers, Injector Carbons, Core and Mold Coatings, Bentonite, Partings, Specialty Graphites and Lubricants. In Canada, Asbury offers ferroalloys and nickel products. Of special interest to the aluminum industry are Asbury’s superior, Degassers, Grain Refiners, Lubricants, Master Alloys, shot, and hardeners.

Tailored Blends of Carbon Products

Asbury graphite and carbon products are carefully blended to achieve a given set of chemical and physical properties that satisfy specific customer needs. Asbury Carbons’ chemical and ceramic engineers work closely with customers to develop new grades for new applications.

Among the graphite and carbon products the company markets are Amorphous Graphites, Natural Flake Graphites, Artificial Graphites, Crystalline Vein Graphites, Synthetic Flake Graphites, Calcined Petroleum Cokes, Calcined Pitch Cokes, Graphitized Cokes and Carbons, Anthracite and Calcined Anthracite Coals, Metallurgical Cokes, Activated Carbons, Carbon Blacks, Pelletized Carbons, Graphite Specialty Lubricants, Carbon Fibers, and Colloidals.
