Ashland Inc. will merge its Ashland Casting Solutions business unit into a new global venture, together with the operations of Germany’s Sud-Chemie AG and the two groups’ existing joint venture, Ashland-Sudchemie-Kernfest. The new company will be called ASK Chemicals GmbH and headquartered in Hilden, Germany. Read more

McWane, EPA in “Landmark” Environmental Settlement
"The proposed consent decree announced today with EPA will include a comprehensive settlement of all outstanding historical civil environmental enforcement matters at 28 of our plants, some of which date back more than 12 years in the past,” president Ruffner Page stated. “This settlement establishes a fresh and positive relationship with EPA that will help us maintain our position as the industry leader in environmental, health and safety performance." Inductotherm Books Contract for "Largest Ever" Induction Melt Shop for Steel
The order from an unnamed steelmaker is for six 30-ton coreless induction furnaces, each with an 18,500-kW VIP® power supply. When all the furnaces are on full-power simultaneously, the installation will produce at a rate of 210 ton/hour, with a total connected load of 111 MW. Read more
