Grede Holdings LLC will license Georg Fischer's SiboDur ductile iron alloy, according to a new agreement between the two groups. In addition, Grede will handle Georg Fisher’s U.S. manufacturing needs, and Georg Fischer will do the same for Grede in Europe and Asia. Read more

Cummins, Mercury Marine Dissolving Venture
Cummins Inc. and Mercury Marine plan to dissolve their joint venture next year and will use their individual resources to supply the marine engine market. Cummins MerCruiser Diesel Marine (CMD) was established in 2002 to supply integrated diesel propulsion systems ,from 40-715 hp for recreational boats, and 150-715 hp for commercial vessels. Read more

High-Efficiency Shaft Furnace for Aluminum
StrikoWestofen's new furnace reportedly consumes just 525 kWh of energy when melting and holding 1 metric ton of aluminum, a standard of energy efficiency previously achieved only by using regenerative combustion systems. Developed as part of an R&D project promoted by the German Federal Ministry of Economics, the first unit was installed in May at Kovolit a.s., in Modrice, Czech Republic. Read more
