Signicast Orders New AS/RS Installations
Signicast Investment Castings ordered two automated storage and retrieval systems from TGW Logistics Group GmbH, for its foundries in Hartford and Milwaukee, WI. Earlier this year Signicast broke ground adjacent to the Hartford plant, where it plans to add a new secondary processing cell by mid 2012, and a new investment casting cell in 2013.

Sert Consolidating with Vesuvius Group
Sert Metal, known for developing flow-control systems for casting ferrous metals, is joining the Vesuvius Group, Ceramics division of Cookson Plc, in a transaction described as a “friendly integration.” Cookson plans to offer the Sert products along with its Foseco brand technologies, to cover “liquid iron from the furnace to the molding line.”

Tennessee Diecaster to Expand
Jackson Die Casting LLC unveiled an expansion program for its Jackson, TN, plant, estimated to cost nearly $4.5 million. “We’re fortunate to have booked significant new business from current and new customers, requiring us to invest significantly in equipment capacity and increase our employment,” Bob Tamburrino, president of Key 3 Casting, explained.

Steinbichler Optotechnik GmbH introduced a 5-megapixel sensor camera for optical measuring systems, offering improved camera resolution for a higher level of surface detail. Even highly detailed structured components can be captured in great detail. It achieves a max. measuring field of 500 mm, and its new pulsed operation is adapted to the LED, which provides higher light intensity.
