The World Foundry Congress 2006 will be held early next month, June 5-7, at the Harrogate International Centre at Harrogate, England, in conjunction with the Foundry, Furnaces and Castings Expo.

The 67th World Foundry Congress is organized with a theme, "Casting the Future." The organizers are Britain’s Institute of Cast Metals Engineers (ICME) together with several working groups and committees comprised of leading U.K. industrial and academic groups.

The World Foundry Organization holds its World Foundry Congress every two years, at sites in the different countries that are WFO members. Great Britain last hosted the WFC in the mid-1970s.

To emphasize the "Casting the Future" theme, the lead-off session on June 5 will include presentations on "Modeling Microstructructural Evolution in Cast Alloys," "Maximizing Supply Chain Competitiveness and Market Opportunities," and "A Global Perspective of the Industry." Subsequent presentations are scheduled on a three-track system, according to practical interests.

The Tuesday program is centered on new refractory technologies, as well as a continuation of the tracked presentations. The highlight of the Wednesday schedule is a special symposium on investment casting.

Running simultaneously with the congress in the Harrogate International Centre, will be the Foundry, Furnaces and Castings Expo 2006. Its planners are promoting Expo ‘06 as the premier exhibition for the international cast metals, metallurgical plant, and foundry equipment industries.

On Thursday following the congress and expo several tours have been organized to foundries, engineering facilities, and research centers.
