Automated, low- to medium-volume line produces 130 molds/hour

Northern Iron and Machine, a ductile and gray iron foundry in St. Paul, MN, has started up a new DISA Match 130 automated molding line, doubling its molding capacity. The new line replaces three older lines, making the operation more efficient in terms of production and cost.

The DISA line will produce up to 130 molds/hour high with a flask size of 20 x 24 inches. It uses Northern Iron and Machine’s existing match plate patterns, so there are no significant conversion costs.

Designed for low- to medium-volume runs, the DISA 130 is a fully automated line that’s particularly effective when shorter runs require frequent pattern changes. Its sturdy design ensures higher mold density and better accuracy, with more production flexibility for lower operating costs.

Northern Iron And Machine cast and finish-machined parts, as well as painting and assembly of castings, to manufacturers in construction, off-highway, agricultural, and railroad industries. Currently, it ships over 4,500 tons of ductile, austempered ductile, and gray iron castings annually.
