Navistar to Supply Diesel Engines to Daewoo
New MaxxForce blocks for transit buses
Navistar Engine Group has a new agreement to develop and produce diesel engines for two new Daewoo Bus commercial vehicles, for the South Korean market, as well as selected other regions.
The in-line, four-cylinder engines are a new entry for Navistar’s MaxxForce series, which are cast in compacted graphite iron (CGI) by the Brazilian foundry group Tupy. Navistar’s Brazilian affiliate MWM International Indstria de Motores da Amrica do Sul Ltda. will supply the MaxxForce engines to Clark ENG Ltd., which develops products for Daewoo Bus Corp. Production will start in mid 2011, and eventually may reach up to 25,000 units/year.
These designs for Daewoo will power 6.0-ton GVW and 5.5-ton GVW vehicles for Daewoo, and will comply with Euro III, IV and V emissions standards.
