Shotscope monitors diecasting, generates statistical data

Thresher Industries, a producer of aluminum and metal-matrix diecastings, reports it has installed a Shotscope Process Monitoring system to its high-pressure die casting operation.

The Shotscope package monitors and analyzes key performance indicators in the injection process, for diecasting and plastic injection molding. Thresher said the addition will allow it to produce high-quality castings consistently, reducing scrap and other cost factors.

Thresher president and CEO Tom Flessner stated: "The addition of this equipment allows our technicians to interface with the high-speed casting machines, generate statistical data for all aspects of the process, and see real-time run data. This allows us to set limits, run product consistently, and assures quality does not vary. Monitoring of production can be done at the machine, in our offices or anywhere in the world."

Hanford, CA-based Thresher produces castings for manufacturers in the agricultural, aerospace, automotive, defense, and transportation markets.
