Bremen Castings Adds Firearm Manufacturing

May 13, 2013
“Our goal is to evolve our business …” Producing stripped lower receivers, aims to produce fully assemble rifles Continuing “a sustainable business model”

Bremen Castings Inc., an Indiana gray iron and ductile iron foundry, has established a new product line — BCI Defense.  The family-owned foundry and machine shop has been in operation for over 70 years, supplying cast products to OEMs in various market segments. According to BCI’s announcement, company president JB Brown noted it is time for the foundry to manufacture new, original products.

According to the new brand’s website, BCI Defense has developed and is manufacturing the SQS15, “an AR15-style rifle, and its component parts.” The first products to be produces are a stripped lower receiver. “Our first SQS15 lower receivers are being machined from high-quality 7075 T6 aluminum forgings, and are to mil-spec standards.  While some of the bigger manufacturers only inspect 1 out of every 50 parts produced, we inspect every single one,” according to the site.

The initial delivery - 500 stripped lower receivers – have been supplied to an exclusive distributor, MGE Wholesale, and to a South Bend, IN, retailer, Midwest Gun Exchange.

BCI Defense will continue producing lower receivers, and will soon begin to produce and supply assembled lower receivers soon. The venture’s objective is to supply fully assembled SQS15 rifles.

“Our new project, the mil-spec SQS515, will reflect the same quality and workmanship our products have always boasted,” Brown said.  “Our goal is to evolve our business so that we may always be a leader in whatever industry we play in.  Our forward thinking team members, team of engineers, and CNC machinist will allow us to continue a sustainable business model.”

He continued, noting that the foundry’s long-standing values will continue even with the new focus of activity.

“Safety has always been at the forefront of our plant operations and we will ensure our processes are continuously held to the highest standard,” Browns said.  “Our management style reflects an ethos of pushing each individual in the company to challenge themselves and make tomorrow better than yesterday.”
