Tilt-Pour Casting for Robotic Interface

Tilt pouring reduces turbulence Standard options comparable to 3HS Enhances aluminum solidification

CMH MANUFACTURING, manufacturers of the Hall tilt-pour permanent mold casting  (or gravity diecasting) machines, and other foundry systems, is introducing the 3R Tilt-Pour machine, designed to operate with a robotic interface.

Tilt pouring reduces turbulence as molten metal enters the die cavity, provides shorter cycle times, and requires less metal for feeding systems. Aluminum castings produced in metal molds have a tighter dendrite structure than castings produced in other processes, according to CMH, and are “harder,” with better pressure characteristics.

The 3R is designed without tie-bars that may interfere with robotic core placement or casting extraction. It has four ram cylinders that ensure balanced die clamping pressure. The machine achieves 30-ton die clamping pressure at 1,200 psi, and 20-ton ejection pressure.

It can be fitted with standard options available on the CMH 3HS tilt-pour permanent mold casting machine, such as a front ejector and swing-in casting catcher. It has the same pouring height as the 3HS, and linear ball bearing way bars. Value-adding options, such as sand cores or cast-in ferrous inserts are simple to apply.
