U.S. Aluminum Castings in Entiat, WA, reports it has installed a new permanent mold casting machine and three new vertical machining centers. The foundry stated the recent investments are examples of its plans to expand its “production base” and support its customers. It said the new machines would help it to maintain an “almost perfect on-time record” and expand its fabricating capabilities.

USAC is a business unit of the Philadelphia-based Advanced Metals Group, and manufactures no-bake, permanent mold, lost foam, and green sand castings for aerospace, trucking, defense, and general commercial markets. Advanced Metals has two other aluminum foundries: Ross Aluminum Castings, Sidney, OH, and Oberdorfer LLC, Syracuse, NY; as well as Mabry Castings, an iron foundry in Beaumont, TX.

The Washington foundry’s new molding machine is a Hall 6H Tilt-Pour permanent mold casting machine, supplied by CMH Manufacturing. It’s a PLC-controlled sysem designed for low-maintenance operation, with a maximum mold size of 48 x 62 in. (122 x 158 cm), according to the supplier.

The three new CNCs are Mori Seiki DuraVertical 1035 Ecoline vertical machines, supplied by DMG Mori Seiki. The machine builder states the new VMCs offer “high-power performance and reliability,” with a large X-axis traverse of 40.7 inches and an operating system that combines state-of-the-art hardware with advanced application/network systems and 3-D simulation.

USAC previously installed a Mori Seiki horizontal machine to expand the range of its value-added services.
