Aeromet International agreed to buy Stone Foundries Ltd., consolidating two aluminum and magnesium casting suppliers

Aeromet International, a British aluminum and magnesium foundry group, agreed to acquire the business and assets of Stone Foundries Ltd. from Langham Industries. The terms of the transaction were not reported.

Langham is another U.K. engineering group with multiple subsidiaries supplying industrial component parts and systems to marine and aerospace manufacturers. Stone Foundries, specializes in light-alloy castings for aerospace, defense, and motor racing production programs. 

The combined business will supply sand and investment castings to customers that includes Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, Leonardo, Meggitt, and Rolls-Royce.

“This deal is a very exciting development to consolidate two, world-class aerospace businesses in the U.K.,” commented Vardhan Rajkumar, Aeromet chairman. “The enlarged business will be manufacturing parts for both engine and airframes, and we will continue to be the supplier of choice for complex cast parts to the aerospace and defense industry worldwide.”

Aeromet Intl. has three locations and produces aluminum and magnesium sand castings and aluminum investment castings. It supplies all of the major civilian aircraft OEMs, as well as airframe manufacturers and turbofan engine builders.

Stone Foundries can trace its history to 1830, and today it produces aluminum, magnesium, copper alloy, and steel sand castings and investment castings at a site in Charlton, southwest London.

In its announcement, Aeromet committed to continue investing in production capacity as well as “advanced casting technology” as civil aerospace production rates continue to increase.

Stone Foundries managing director added, “The combination of Aeromet and Stone Foundries will secure a bright future for the company.  I am looking forward to joining the Aeromet team and leading the combined sand casting business.”
