GOODFELLOW CERAMIC and GLASS Division offers alumina crucibles in sizes ranging from 0.03 ml to multi-liter capacity, and with tolerances to suit specific customer applications. In addition to standard shapes – conical, cylindrical, cup, rectangular, round, shallow and tapered – the company can supply crucibles made to customer drawings.

Depending on the size, tolerance and number of pieces required, alumina crucibles can be

made by pressing, slip casting, or injection molding.

Alumina crucibles represent a cost-effective alternative to certain other materials when heat resistance and corrosion resistance are essential. Specifically, alumina offers:
·  Maximum operating temperature of approximately 1,700°C
·  Good strength and hardness
·  Chemical stability
·  Electrical insulation

When different end-use characteristics are desired, Goodfellow is able to supply crucibles made from other materials. These materials include the metals tantalum and zirconium and ceramics including boron nitride, magnesia, quartz, silicon carbide, titanium diboride, vitreous carbon and zirconia.

Goodfellow supplies metals, polymers, ceramics and other materials for scientific and industrial applications worldwide. Goodfellow Ceramic and Glass division supplies a comprehensive range of ceramics and glasses, either as finished components to customer drawings or in an extensive range of semi-finished forms including sheets, rods and tubes for customers to machine their own components.
