Expanded Line of Stainless Steel Grit

July 10, 2017
Angular shape, high hardness, and high bulk-density delivers more energy to the part
Transmet Corporation is expanding its product line of shot blasting materials to include stainless steel grit. It reports the new grit is a “highly effective alternative” to aluminum oxide, glass bead, and other mineral abrasives in air-blast and some wheel-blast applications.

Its angular shape, high hardness, and high bulk-density (particle mass) delivers more energy to the part being blasted. Stainless steel grit results in more efficient cleaning and shorter blast cycles. The resulting surface profile is consistent, bright, and without ferrous contamination.

Stainless steel grit is proven to be more durable and resistant to fracture than other abrasive, according to the supplier, and this durability advantage will be reflected in the overall cost of the shot-blasting process.
