New Spinner Hanger Blaster

Jan. 9, 2012
Wider, taller blasting zone for greater efficiency
The builder explained that the new design eliminates the need for a lower screw auger, reducing wear while improving efficiency. The air intake is said to be “very aggressive” and allows for application of more than 2,500 CFM of blasting media, which results in cleaner abrasive and a cleaner cabinet.

VIKING BLAST & WASH SYSTEMS released its newest blast cleaning machine, an extension of its industrial line of spinner hanger blasters. The SH 3660 has a wider and taller blasting zone (36 in. wide×60 in. tall) than the preceding design (SH 3460), and it delivers new degree of efficiency to operators.

The builder explained that the new design eliminates the need for a lower screw auger, reducing wear while improving efficiency. The air intake is said to be “very aggressive” and allows for application of more than 2,500 CFM of blasting media, which results in cleaner abrasive and a cleaner cabinet.

The drum is fabricated of manganese steel and lined with 0.5-in.-thick cast chrome/moly liners, which provides a very high level of wear resistance. Most applications are covered by the standard offering, but also may be fitted with a rotary scalping drum, auxiliary abrasive hoppers, and 20-HP, 25-HP, or 30-HP blast wheels, rather than the standard 15-HP wheels.

The system is designed to use safety light curtains as its standard, with two palm buttons, for what the builder calls “the highest level of safety offered in the market.” All Viking cartridge-style dust collectors are supplied with NFPA required deflagration panels as standard.
