Portable Furnace Camera Diagnostic System

Sept. 26, 2011
Real-time inspection for high-temperature furnaces
The portable system lets plant engineers and operators check burner flames, refractory, or material alignment and movement.

The LENOX INSTRUMENT CO. portable furnace camera diagnostic system provides an easy and economical way to achieve real-time, color video monitoring and digital recording of combustion and process control in high-temperature furnaces. It’s a mobile system so operators can use one unit for diagnostics or monitoring and recording of several individual furnaces, using any available 3.5-in. (89-mm) opening.

The portable high-temperature camera system provides engineers and operators clear, high-resolution images of burner flames, refractory condition, and material alignment and movement inside walking-beam, walking-hearth, pusher furnaces, or rotary hearth, annealing and other thermal treatment furnaces.

The Lenox portable furnace camera diagnostic system is entirely self-contained, consisting of an air filtration and power system, water hoses, and 8-in. CCD color monitor packaged in a durable case with telescoping handle and wheels. The furnace camera’s stainless steel housing employs a steel triple wall laminar flow for efficient water-cooled protection of the CCD color camera and integrated low consumption air-purging to keeps the lens clear of particulate, enabling extended operation in hostile environments up to 3,500°F (1,927°C). A radiant heat shield and mini-digital video recorder with a LCD screen are available as options.
