New Nemak Casting Plant Opens

Czech plant will produce aluminun cylinder heads
Nemak, a joint-venture of Mexico's Alfa Group and Ford Motor Co., has opened a new plant in Most, Czech Republic. The operation will cast aluminum cylinder heads for V6 engines to be produces in Europe by General Motors Corp. The plant is designed to produce up to 600,000 units/year.

Alfa is the majority owner of Nemak with an 80% share; Ford holds 20%. Nemak also manufactures aluminum blocks at plants in Essex and Windsor, ON, and Monterrey, Mexico.
