Modern Equipment Co. has sold its share in Kuttner-Modern LLC to the Kuttner Group. Its former partner in the venture, wie will continue the business as Kuttner LLC. Modern Equipment is a specialty builder of melting equipment for foundries as well as heat-treating systems, and a unit of ALCO Industries.

Separately, Modern Equipment has named Bob Youmans to lead its sales and marketing effort for cupola and iron-melting technology. The company claims to have the largest number of iron-melting cupolas in the U.S. and Canada. Youmans has been active in sales and engineering with the metalcasting industry for over 25 years, including 20 years with Modern Equipment.
