Branchfield Castings to open in Galva by summer
The Star Courier of Kewanee, IL, has reported that a new foundry will be opened in Galva, IL, next summer by Branchfield Castings. The town council in that city approved an agreement with Branchfield, a company owned by two natives of the community. J.B. and Tabie Hopping are former owners of a foundry in Mathersville, IL, that burned in 2003.

The Galva council and the Hoppings have been negotiating a purchase of property and other terms of the project. The city will extend water and sewer line to the property.

The paper does not detail the new foundry’s product lines, but indicates it will employ 12 to 20 workers.
