Magma simulation software used to review casting designs
Oshkosh Truck has renewed an agreement with Magma Foundry Technologies for simulation software suite it uses to design high-quality castings. The agreement extends through 2004 a contract that’s been in place for the past year.

Oshkosh Truck Corp. manufactures specialty truck and truck bodies for various markets, including defense, fire, and emergency vehicles, as well as concrete placement and refuse hauling. It Oshkosh will continue using simulation software to review new product designs and assist supplier foundries to troubleshoot problems with castings. The software suite will be used for ferrous and aluminum castings.

The Wisconsin company also relies on Magma for casting engineering assistance.

"This is a great step forward for the metal casting industry," according to Magma president Tim McMillin. "Although Oshkosh doesn’t operate their own foundries they have recognized the need to help produce better, more castable designs."

Magma Foundry Technologies Inc. is the North American subsidiary of Magma Giessereitechnologie GmbH, Aachen, Germany.
