Can-Eng Furnaces Ships Aluminum V-8 Heat-Treating System

Develops thermal processes for thin-walled products
Can-Eng Furnaces Ltd., reports it is commissioning a large continuous V-8 engine block solution-treating, precision air-quench (PAQ), and artificial aging system.

Without naming the customer, the Niagara Falls, ON, builder of heat-treating equipment states that the order follows many months of process development work focused on Can-Eng's PAQ technology at its R&D facility.

The installation schedule calls for the system to be put into production soon.

Can-Eng further reports news of an automated heat-treating system for aluminum bumpers, specifically designed for customers needing thermal processing of thin-walled profiles.

The system integrates a multi-zone, forced convection, indirect heating system to achieve very stringent requirements for load uniformity requirements. The product is conveyed through the system via a chain-conveyor transfer system, making it safe and reliable for the operator. The system is controlled via a PLC-based processor, communicating directly to an operator interface. It is capable of monitoring process data remotely.

This heat-treat system integrates many standard Can-Eng features, specifically developed for the emerging market for thin-walled casting and wrought product structural components.
