Aluminum, magnesium, and zinc diecastings to be judged

The North American Die Casting Association has opened the competition for its annual International Die Casting Competion, a contest that recognizes the outstanding casting designs of each year, based on "design, quality, cost savings, ingenuity, innovation and industry-changing potential."

According to NADCA president Daniel L. Twarog, the competition promotes the increased use of castings in automotive, consumer, and aerospace markets.

The competition is open to aluminum, magnesium, or zinc diecastings, and within these alloys the competition will be judged according to specific weight categories demonstrating the materials’ versatility.

Companies interested in entering the competition may download the entry form via NADCA’s Web site, or by calling the group’s marketing director Leo J. Baran at Tel. 847-808-3153. All entries must be postmarked by February 3, 2006.

Winners in each category will be named next April, during the 110th Metal Casting Congress in Columbus, OH.
