According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Region 5, the EPA and Wabash Alloys L.L.C. have reached an agreement concerning alleged clean-air violations at the Wabash secondary-aluminum recycling plant in Cleveland. EPA assessed an $11,160 penalty on the company, which recently announced plans to close the Cleveland operation and relocate the prudction activity to its Wabash, IN, plant.

EPA stated the agreement resolves its allegations that Wabash Alloys violated national emission standards for hazardous air pollutants (NESHAP) by failing to comply with EPA requirements for operating its scrap-dryer afterburner.

Wabash certified that it complying fully with national emission standards for secondary-aluminum production plants.
