Intermet to Supply Cam Covers for Toyota Camry Hybrid

Mag diecastings to be manufactured at Palmyra, MO

Intermet Corp. reports it has chosen to supply engine cam covers to Toyota Motor Manufacturing North America's Georgetown, KY, assembly plant for the new Toyota hybrid Camry.

Intermet manufactures a range of cast-metal automotive components, and the company's plant in Palmyra, MO, will diecast magnesium cam covers for the 2007 model year Toyota Camry Hybrid. That vehicle line goes into production later this year at TMMNA in Georgetown.

The cam covers will be part of Toyota's 2.4-liter, 4-cylinder gas/electric engine. That unit will power the automaker's Hybrid Synergy Drive® system, which also is offered on Prius, Lexus RX 400h, and some Highlander models.

Intermet's Palmyra plant already manufactures cam covers for the Camry's standard gas-powered 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine.
