Badger Mining Called Best Small-Business Employer

Earns praise for teamwork, benefits, training, profit sharing

June 27, 2006 -- Badger Mining Co., Berlin, WI, has been named America’s best small business to work for by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). The association for human-resource managers released its third-annual rankings, based on research conducted by the Great Places to Work Institute Inc.

Badger Mining supplies sands for metalcasting and other industrial uses at a rate of one and a half million tons per year. It employs 180 people, and it is family-owned and privately held.

SHRM commended for its teamwork, safety training, profit sharing, health-care coverage, and “family-centeredness.” The report on Badger offers a number of detailed examples of workers pleased with their jobs and the management.
