October26-27, at New Jersey Arsenal

September 7, 2006 -- The Casting Emission Reduction Program has announced details of its upcoming meeting at the Picatinny Arsenal, in New Jersey, October 26-27.

CERP is "a dual-use initiative" supported by the U.S. Dept. of Defense and private commercial organizations, which conducts research to validate the use of advanced materials and processes to improve metalcasting's environmental impact.

Current CERP research efforts includes projects on hazardous air pollutant and volatile organic compound reduction. New foundry processes and materials are tested in a “real world” environment to bridge laboratory and full-scale casting production, and the casting quality considerations.

The upcoming event will consist of a one-half day of Working Group session and a one-half day Steering Committee meeting. The Working Groups involve teams meeting consecutively to determine needs and directions of the research, and to be briefed on CERP activities and results. The Working Groups will be organized as the Emissions Team, Casting Quality Team, Test Design Team, Energy Team, and Modeling Team.

The Steering Committee will meet on the morning of the second day, as the voting group that guides the direction for CERP research. This is typically a short meeting with each team leader asking for decisions on specific issues.

On the second half of the first day, the group will tour selected facilities at Picatinny Arsenal.

Attendees must register for the meeting before receiving a copy of the agenda. Once the registration is complete, the attendees will be sent a form to submit more detailed information, in order to gain access to the U.S. Army facility.

To register, Jodie Crandell at Technikon L.L.C. by e-mail (jcrandell@technikonllc.com) or fax (916-929-8020), by September 25, 2006.
