Federal-Mogul takes rotary drum; for Mueller, a sand blender/cooler/screener

February 21, 2007 — Didion International reports it supplied Federal-Mogul Corp.'s plant in Lake City, MN, with a new, Model MD -70 Mark 5 rotary media drum, the central element of a project to update that foundry's shakeout system. As detailed by Didion, St. Peters, MO, the new system combines sand-casting separation with casting sprue cleaning, double-sand screening, and automatic degating.

In a separate project, Didion installed a new BD-50 Mark 5 rotary sand blender/cooler/screener for Mueller Co., the manufacturer of gas and water valves, at its gray iron foundry at St. Jerome, Quebec. That system is designed to process and condition up to 50 tons of green sand per hour.
