February 22, 2007 — AmeriCast Technologies, Atchison, KS, reports it has started negotiations with Atlas Castings and Technology regarding a purchase of the Tacoma-based steel foundry. AmeriCast, consisting of most of the former Atchison Casting Corp., was acquired in November by its own management backed by the investor group Castle Harlan and Australian metalcaster Bradken Operations Proprietary Ltd., for $110 million.

Presently, AmeriCast has five operating units Atchison Steel Castings, in Atchison, KS, and St. Joseph, MO; Amite Foundry, in Amite, LA; Prospect Foundry, in Minneapolis; London Precision Machining, London, ON; and AmeriCast Global Services. Its iron and steel castings, as well as machined components and assemblies, are sold to manufacturers of locomotives, mass transit vehicles, mining and construction equipment, and heavy-duty trucks.

Atlas Castings and Technology has a foundry in Tacoma and a machine shop in ,Chehalis, WA, and produces specialty steel castings for oil and natural gas production, nuclear and fossil-fuel power generation, and for naval systems.
