Aluminum automotive parts supplier investing $44 million
March 25, 2007 — Ryobi Die Casting USA Inc. has announced plans to build a new plant in Guanajuato, Mexico, a $44-million project that will start production in the fourth quarter of 2008.
Based in Shelbyville, IN, Ryobi Die Casting USA is subsidiary of Ryobi Ltd., and supplies high-pressure aluminum diecastings for transmission cases, housings, engine parts, and automotive structural parts, and a range of smaller structures for lawn/garden equipment manufacturers. It lists among its customers Ford Motor Co., General Motors Corp., and Toyota Motor Corp.
A Ryobi statement explained that a 140,000-ft2 plant in Mexico would be known as RDCM Srl de CV, and that construction of the facility will begin in June. The operation will be headed by Thomas Johnson, who is president and CEO of Ryobi Die Casting, with Mark Gunner as general manager.
