Construction products facility to be operating by year's end

April 15, 2007 — Syracuse Castings, a Cicero, NY, producer of iron castings for construction products, is planning a new manufacturing plant in Tooele, UT, according to local news reports. The new plant, Syracuse Castings West, is expected to be in operation by the end of this year with about 20 employees, but the strategy foresees up to 90 employees within five years.

"Building a factory in Utah is an exciting and logical development for Syracuse Castings," stated Syracuse Castings general manager Mark Pulver. "We have enjoyed steady growth with our strategy of product innovation and unparalleled service."

Syracuse produces a range of castings for manhole covers and frames, and drainage frames and grates.

Tooele is a city west of Salt Lake City, and the site of a U.S. Army arsenal. Syracuse Castings has been offered $585,000 in incentives by the State of Utah to locate the new plant there, according to public records.
