Advanced Metals Group Buys Ross Aluminum

Advanced Metals Group L.L.C. has acquired the business and assets of Ross Aluminum Castings from Charter Oaks Capital, a private-equity group. The transaction was completed recently, and no purchase price was announced. Charter Oaks had owned the foundry since 2005.
Malvern, PA-based Advanced Metals Group has assembled a series of foundry operations since 1999, including Mabry Castings Ltd., Beaumont, TX; Oberdorfer L.L.C., Syracuse, NY; Peerless Foundry L.L.C., Bridgeport, CT; Robinson Foundry Inc., Alexander, AL; and U.S. Castings L.L.C., in Entiat, WA. Advanced Metals also owns Belcher Corp., Easton, MA, but it announced in July that operation would be consolidated with the Robinson Foundry operation at the Alabama site.
Producing castings in both iron and aluminum at its various operations, Advanced Metals lists among its customer markets aerospace, aircraft, automotive, electrical, HVAC, machine tool, medical, mining, military, recreational, semiconductor, and transportation.
Ross Aluminum Castings is a precision aluminum casting operation with about 300 employees at two plants in Sidney, OH, where it uses green sand, dry sand, "plaster ceram," and permanent mold processes. Its products are supplied to automotive, aerospace, and other manufacturing customers.
Ross Aluminum is the seventh acquisition for Advanced Metals in the past eight years, and according a statement, the group "continues to have a strong appetite for acquiring more foundries, particularly those which no longer have a strategic fit with their parent companies."
