First Order for GK's New Rotary Drum Series
Michigan foundry orders rotary sprue mill
General Kinematics Corp. reports it has taken the first order its new Ducta-Sprue rotary sprue mill, from a metalcasting operation in Michigan. The buyer asked not to be named, according to a General Kinematics source. The unit will be delivered by the end of the fourth quarter of 2007, to clean and break sprue and remove sand prior to remelting.
The new Ducta Series of rotary systems for treating ductile-iron casting was introduced earlier this year. It includes the Ducta-Sprue rotary sprue drum; the Ducta-Screen rotary shakeout; and the Ducta-Clean rotary media drum. These drums are designed with a single-layer wear plate shell to extend service life, and a patent-pending modular shell designed to be replaced easily and affordably. Sand and media exiting the drum are collected with GK's Syncro-Coil vibratory technology.
Crystal Lake, IL-based General Kinematics designs and builds vibratory material-handling and processing equipment, and holds over 200 worldwide patents for its equipment designs and applications.
According to Thomas Musschoot, General Kinematics' product manager, "The Ducta-Series has been designed to significantly reduce the cost of ownership over the life of the rotary product. We are very excited to sell our first of many Ducta Series drums, and look forward to the success these machines will bring to our customers."
