Forms world’s largest supplier of foundry-sand laboratory and control technology

Simpson Technologies has acquired the sand laboratory-testing equipment product line from DISA Industrie AG, Schaffhausen, Switzerland.  The price of the transaction has not been reported.

Edgar Niedermann, DISA sales manager for sand testing instruments, will support Simpson, “for a certain period of time,” to ensure a smooth transition of the business.

This product line was developed by Georg Fischer AG over several years and acquired by DISA in 2000 via its acquisition of the outstanding shares of a joint venture, Georg Fischer DISA. The line includes approximately 50 CE-certified and European standardized instruments, according to Simpson.

Simpson states that adding the former Georg Fischer DISA sand laboratory equipment product line to its Simpson+Gerosa sand-testing equipment product line, creates the world’s largest supplier of foundry-sand laboratory and control technology. “Together with the Simpson+Hartley online mixer group control and automation system, Simpson Technologies is well positioned to assist any foundry with an investment in high-performance sand-preparation quality control technology in both the laboratory and online in the sand preparation plant,” the company states.

Production and support systems for the business will be transferred from DISA’s facility in Schaffhausen to a new Simpson Technologies GmbH plant in Steinhausen, Switzerland. The 900 m2 plant will have a modern production department, a showroom/laboratory, and a large spare parts warehouse.  Several DISA staffers will transfer to Simpson, to ensure continuity in production, product quality, service support, and product development.
