Elyria Foundry Acquires Hodge Foundry
Sees expanded role serving energy markets
Ohio’s Elyria Foundry Co. L.L.C. recently acquired Hodge Foundry Co., Greenville, PA, for an undisclosed price. Elyria reports that the two operations will remain independent of each other, it adds that “the acquisition of Hodge Foundry makes us a dominant supplier of castings to North American energy industries.”
Hodge Foundry produces large, engineered gray and ductile iron castings for critical applications in the power generation segment. This includes parts for wind turbines and coal pulverizers, along with other parts for mining and mineral processing machinery. Its specialties are large, heavy-section iron castings weighing from 3,000 to 200,000 lbs.
Elyria Foundry produces complex, highly cored gray and ductile iron castings weighing 50 to 50,000 lbs. Most of its products are used in energy markets, including natural gas compression for drilling and gathering, and power generation. It also supplies castings to the wind turbine and mining industries, and says Hodge Foundry will allow it to expand its presence in those markets.
Hodge’s senior management team, including president and general manager Joe Simko, and v.p.-operations Mike Forsha, will remain with the organization.
