Aluminum Assn. updates “Pink Sheets” for castings, ingots

The Aluminum Association has released the 2008 edition of its Designations and Chemical Composition Limits for Aluminum Alloys in the Form of Castings and Ingots, popularly known as the “Pink Sheets.” The new edition replaces the current (2002) edition.

The Aluminum Association is a trade group of over 200 U.S. and foreign-based primary aluminum producers, aluminum recyclers, and producers of semi-fabricated aluminum products. The group also includes companies that supply products and services to the aluminum industry.

The Pink Sheets identifies designations and chemical composition limits for 260 aluminum alloy castings and ingots registered with The Aluminum Association. Other useful information in the volume are former designations for alloys, and a list of previously registered (but now inactive) alloys.

The new edition includes information on 21 new alloy designations and their associated chemical composition limits.  Alloys that are no longer in commercial use have been eliminated from this edition.

The Pink Sheets is available for purchase from the Association’s online bookstore for $20.00 for members of The Aluminum Association and $40.00 for non-members. Visit www.aluminum.org.
