According to the Indiana Economic Development Corp., the state’s “commerce department,” Attica, IN-based Harrison Steel Castings Co. is planning a plant modernization and expansion project. The manufacturer of castings for tractors and heavy machinery indicates the additional capacity will create 10 new positions for machinists and maintenance workers. Currently its workforce totals almost 900.
Specific details and timing of the expansion were not released.
"Harrison Steel Castings Co. is a long-standing Indiana company that continues to provide quality employment opportunities for workers in Fountain County," stated Lt. Governor Becky Skillman. The state is offering a $28,000 grant from its Skills Enhancement Fund, so Harrison Steel Castings can train current and future workers in basic electricity, industrial wiring, and machining skills.
"We continually reinvest in our people, processes, facility and equipment because it facilitates producing a quality product," company president Wade Harrison said. "The assistance from the state with the training grant is especially important because it is an investment in our people which have the greatest potential to provide for our company's future."
