Three metalcasters place orders for NovaFlow & Solid CV
Columbus Steel Castings is one of three customers placing new orders with Sweden’s NovaCast Technologies for its simulation software, NovaFlow & Solid CV. NovaCast Technologies develops and markets specialty automotive castings, and through its subsidiary NovaCast Foundry Solutions develops software for modeling, simulation, and process control of production processes.
The latest version of the software is NovaFlow & Solid CV 4.0, which was introduced in late 2008 with advanced numeric models and a new meshing technology, Control Volume Meshing, for simulating complex or thin-walled castings.
“NovaFlow & Solid CV sets a new standard for what is possible with a simulation program,” the developer announced recently. “The new meshing technology enables the use of fewer mesh elements resulting in extremely fast simulations without loss of accuracy. Within minutes several variants can quickly be tested. The result of the simulation can easily be shared and evaluated together with colleagues and customers.”
Columbus Steel Castings, in Columbus, OH, claims to be North America’s largest steel foundry in North America, producing components for freight rail, mass transit, and heavy industry markets.
Also placing an order with NovaCast is the Israeli company Omen High-Pressure Die Castings. It produces nonferrous castings for fire-protection systems, automotive parts, and communications system components.
The third new customer is an unnamed European metalcaster. NovaCast reports the total value of the three orders is about $160,000.
