Chairman explains product line is “inconsistent with our focus on structural, drivetrain and wheel-end products”

Commercial Vehicle Group, Inc. has bought “substantially all” of the assets of Bostrom Seating Inc. from Accuride Corp., a manufacturer of automotive and commercial vehicle wheels, wheel-end assemblies, and truck body and chassis parts. Accuride’s remaining brand names include Accuride, Gunite, Imperioal, Fabco, Brillion, and Highway Original.

Bill Lasky, Accuride chairman, president, and CEO, called Bostrom “a solid company,” but added, “the seating market is inconsistent with our focus on structural, drivetrain and wheel-end products for commercial vehicles.

“The Bostrom Seating brand and the people who are transferring with it will be much better served with CVG's ownership and diversified product focus on cab systems and components,” according to Lasky. Bostrom manufactures seating for North American heavy trucks, aftermarket, bus and specialty vehicle markets at a plant in Piedmont, AL. It also has engineering office in Wixom, MI.

The value of the transaction is approximately $8.8 million, according to Commercial Vehicle Group.

"This acquisition further expands our North American presence in certain key end markets and enhances our overall aftermarket position with the addition of the Bostrom Seating brand of products," stated Mervin Dunn, president and CEO.

CVG manufactures component systems and assemblies for commercial and heavy trucks, construction and agriculture vehicles, and specialty and military transport vehicles. Its products include static and suspension seat systems, electrical wire harness assemblies, controls and switches, structures and components, interior trim systems (including instrument panels, door panels, headliners, cabinetry and floor systems), mirrors and wiper systems specifically.
