Research operation will centralize investment caster's parts development and service, and house new HQ
Chromalloy Corp. is developing a new research-and-development center for its gas turbine engine components product line in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. The company, which recently started up a $30-million investment-casting foundry in Tampa and is developing a $5-million ceramic core plant nearby, also will move its corporate headquarters from Orangeburg, NY, to the Palm Beach Gardens site.

The new Technology Center of Excellence will unite Chromalloy technicians currently located at engineering centers throughout the company, including the Turbine Design Analytics Group in Stuart, FL.  New staff also will be hired for the Center, which will occupy a leased 30,000-ft2 location with labs, office space, and a 10,000-ft2 warehouse.

The cost of the new development was not announced. The project will be complete late this year, the company said.

Chromalloy bills itself as “the world’s largest independent supplier” of turbine airfoils and other critical aerospace engine components for commercial and military jets. It also provides component parts for industrial gas turbines.  As well as producing investment cast parts, Chromalloy has engine service and repair centers worldwide.

“During the past two years Chromalloy has refined our research-and-development roadmap for engine services and that strategy includes a robust pipeline,” explained president Armand F. Lauzon, Jr.  “The new Technology Center of Excellence will become the site for this new development and in addition will serve as corporate headquarters – assuring the greatest dynamic between senior leadership and the company’s world-class technical staff that represents our future.”
