Supplying light-metal engine blocks, bed plates to Chery

Georg Fischer Automotive reports that its new aluminum and magnesium casting operation near Shanghai has an order for engine blocks and bedplates from Chery Automobile Co. Ltd in Wuhu, China. Chery is manufacturing five models of a four-cylinder engine design.

Georg Fischer Automotive (Suzhou) Co. Ltd. was commissioned last October. It has operated at a high rate of capacity since then and GF plans an expansion program that begins in June. The engine blocks and bedplates will be cast and partly processed at the Suzhou plant, then delivered to Chery for final machining.

Chery is one of China's leading car builders. Its goal is to produce about 100,000 units of each version of the engine.
