Progress Casting Gets State Aid for New Plant

Iowa supplying $700,000 plus tax benefits

According to local news reports, the Iowa Dept. of Economic Development recently approved $700,000 of aid to Progress Casting Group Inc. for its planned aluminum foundry in New Hampton, IN. State tax benefits have also been extended to the project.

Progress Casting, Plymouth, MN, produces castings for several notable machinery, equipment, vehicle manufacturers at two plants in Minnesota. The new Iowa plant reportedly will supply castings to Harley-Davidson.

Construction is expected to begin soon. The company has not reported details of the plant design, nor of the construction timetable. Initial reports stated the operation would start later this year.

The site is a new industrial park and the plant will be situated in an 85,000-ft2 building, with space for future expansion.

According to local news reports, Iowa’s total assistance will be over $1 million. The state Transportation Commission approved a grant of $330,000 toward road construction to the site.
