Aleris International Inc. has petitioned a bankruptcy court to cancel a long-term supply contract Aleris has with General Motors Corp. The company claims that the terms of the contract and the auto industry’s “widely known difficulties” comprise an extraordinary risk. Read more
Fort Wayne Foundry to Close One Plant
Indiana’s Fort Wayne Foundry Corp. will close one of its two plants by June 2009, according to a company statement. The Lima Road facility, in Fort Wayne, employs 157 workers. Read more
Diecasters See Buyers Switching to U.S. Sourcing
The North American Die Casting Assn. reports that a recent survey of its members reveals a significant majority, 78%, have evidence that buyers of their products are shifting to domestic sources for diecast components. Read more
