Integrated foundry and machining center supplies car/light truck OEMs in Asia

Wescast Industries Inc. held opening ceremonies this week for its new foundry and machining center in Wuhan, China. The integrated operation was commissioned late last year, and it has been operating since early this year.

Wescast Industries (China) Co. Ltd. manufactures cast-iron exhaust manifolds for customers in Asia, and the Brantford, ON-based parent company says the new facility is ramping up several new programs for global markets. It has approximately 200 employees now, but may eventually employ up to 600 when full capacity is achieved.

"We are delighted to celebrate the opening of the new plant in China, completed on time and on budget," Wescast chairman and CEO Ed Frackowiak stated. "With manufacturing and service capability in North America, Europe, and Asia, we are now uniquely positioned to service our customer requirements for global platforms."

Wescast designs, casts, machines, and supplies assembled exhaust system components for automotive and light truck OEMs and Tier 1 customers, at seven plants and five sales/design centers in North America, Europe, and Asia.
