Dyersville Die Cast Buys Hawkeye Foundry

May 27, 2012
Adds more aluminum capacity, brass diecasting capability

Iowa’s Dyersville Die Cast reportedly has acquired Hawkeye Foundry in Manchester, IA, and renamed the new holding Ertl Foundry. The value of the purchase was not announced.

According to its online profile, Hawkeye Foundry operates olivine sand and no-bake molding processes, producing aluminum, brass, and bronze castings. Dyersville Die Cast intends to maintain the existing plant management at Ertl Foundry, according to local reports, and will invest in new production equipment.

“This acquisition is a wonderful growth opportunity for Dyersville Die Cast,” stated general manager Bob Willits. “The addition of aluminum and brass sand casting processes compliments our diecasting operations. Plus, we bring new value-added processes to the foundry.”

The Ertl family — which also lends its name to The Ertl Co., a manufacturer of diecast toys and vehicle replicas — established Dyersville Die Cast in 1970. It produces aluminum and zinc diecastings for telecommunications, industrial and outdoor lighting products, automotive, recreational, agricultural, and other markets. As well as diecasting, it performs CNC machining, injection molding, powder coating, and tool & die production.
