Simpson Buys EU Sand-Processing Supplier

Webac operations in Germany, Sweden, and Czech Republic expand the group's product line to include thermal sand reclamation technology and plants

Simpson Technologies (Deutschland) acquired Webac Gesellschaft für Maschinenbau mbH and two subsidiary companies for an undisclosed price. Webac develops advanced process technology and customized plants for industrial sand treatment for foundry and oil-and-gas customers.

The purchase includes the Webac operation in Euskirchen, Germany; Webac Maskin AB in Stockholm, Sweden; and Webac s.r.o. in Pribram, Czech Republic.

Based in Aurora, IL, parent company Simpson Technologies designs and manufactures a wide range of foundry process technology and machinery, including batch and continuous molding-sand mixing equipment; molding sand coolers; on-line mixer controls; core sand and shell sand preparation plants; sand reclamation systems; sand lab equipment; and automation systems.

The buyer noted that Webac will strengthen and expand its product line to include thermal sand reclamation technology and plants, core sand preparation technology and plants; engineered sand preparation systems; and frac sand processing technology.

Webac also adds infrastructure and capacity for manufacturing, warehousing ,and logistics.

Simpson Technologies CEO Bruce Dienst said the Webac purchase "shows our commitment to the European market and to the growth of our European business.

“Our global growth strategy is focused on acquiring or developing innovative technologies, new capabilities, and expanding our reach to better serve our global customers with efficient and effective technology and outstanding customer service,” he continued. “The facility in Euskirchen (Germany), and the talented team there, will serve as an important and expanding hub for our business in Europe.”
