€100-million production hub produces aluminum brake calipers and knuckles for automakers in China

Brembo Group is casting aluminum parts and producing brake calipers and knuckles at an expanded manufacturing site in Nanjing, China, following a €100-million (est. $112.5 million) project. The expansion consists of a new "production hub" adjacent to the existing plant where brake discs are manufactured, and covers almost 40,000 square meters. The output is a range of cast parts and finished brake calipers and knuckles, totaling more than 2 million finished products annually.

The global supplier specializes in disc brakes for automotive vehicles, including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and motorbikes, as well as clutches and other components for racing vehicles.

A little more than two years ago Brembo started up an aluminum foundry and manufacturing center for brake calipers in Mexico. It also has iron foundries and manufacturing centers in Italy, Poland, Mexico, and the U.S., producing disc brakes.

It has been operating in China since 2001.

In 2008, the group acquired the majority shares of Brembo (Nanjing) Brake Systems Co. Ltd., and gained full ownership in 2013.

Brembo (Nanjing) Brake Systems produces original equipment brake discs for automotive market and braking systems for cars and commercial vehicles.
