Brillion Iron Works, USW in New Five-Year Pact

Nov. 15, 2013
Terms not disclosed “… improves our ability to compete”

Approximately 600 workers at Brillion Iron Works in Brillion, WI, agreed to a new five-year labor agreement with the gray and ductile iron castings producer, which is a business unit of Accuride Corporation.

The terms of contract, which runs through June 30, 2018, were not announced. The workers are represented by the United Steelworkers of America.

Brillion Iron Works produces castings up to 350 lb. at a rate of 550-650 tons/day. It has eight automated molding lines, in-house coremaking, 11 coreless induction furnaces (with preheaters), and two channel induction furnaces.

Last fall, Accuride reduced employment at Brillion by about 200, as it adjusted to declining demand. Earlier, last year, the parent company began phasing out machining operations at Brillion and consolidating that activity at its Gunite division in Rockford, IL.

"We are pleased with this new agreement, which improves our ability to compete for, and earn, profitable new business, while recognizing the hard work of our talented and loyal associates at Brillion Iron Works," stated Brillion Iron Works president David Adams.

Accuride manufactures a range of component products for commercial vehicle OEMs, mainly wheel and wheel-end parts, but it also produces cast iron parts for agricultural, construction and mining, and oil-and-gas industry equipment.
