Pact with UAW workers at Gunite Foundry beats deadline

Accuride Corp. has entered into a new collective bargaining agreement with workers at its Gunite foundry in Rockford, IL, where the group produces cast iron brake drums, brake rotors, wheel hubs, spoke wheels, and other products.

About 150 workers at the plant are represented by International Union, United Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (aka, the UAW). Their current contract expires November 17.

The new contract is a four-year agreement. Terms have not been revealed.

“The new contract allows us to continue to provide competitive wages and benefits for our employees, and fosters a working environment that promotes the safe production of quality product that can be delivered to our customers in an on-time and reliable manner,” stated v.p. and general manager for Cast Products Randy Brull.

It’s the second labor contract settled by Accuride in recent months, following an agreement in August for 215 workers at Accuride’s aluminum wheel plant in Erie, PA.

Accuride manufactures commercial vehicle components, including wheels, wheel-end components and assemblies, truck body and chassis parts, seating assemblies and other commercial vehicle components. Its products are marketed under numerous brand names, including Accuride, Gunite, Imperial, Bostrom, Fabco, Brillion, and Highway Original.
