ASK Chemicals demonstrating product innovations for Russia’s expanding metalcasting industry High-efficiency cold-box binder Anti-residue coating formula
For the fourth consecutive year, ASK Chemicals will be an exhibitor at the Metallurgy-Litmash event in Moscow, June 3-6.

At Metallurgy-Litmash, a Messe Düsseldorf event taking place June 3-6 in Moscow, ASK Chemicals LLC will be among the international exhibitors demonstrating technologies and products for Russia’s metalcasting industry. The event — which runs concurrently with Tube Russia and Aluminium/Non-Ferrous, all located in nine exhibition halls at the Expocentre Fairgrounds — drew 330 exhibitors from 30 countries in 2013, 55% of whom completed commercial transactions, and 79% of whom will participate again this year.

For the fourth straight year, ASK will participate in its capacity as a supplier of foundry consumable products, and provider of new technologies for manufacturing high-quality castings. The company has established itself in Russian market in recent years and now lists numerous Russian foundries among its customers.

ASK Chemicals product range covers all the resources necessary for metalcasting, including binders, coatings, additives, risers, filters and metallurgical products. At Metallurgy-Litmash, the company’s specialists will present a series of market-relevant solutions and new technologies for high-quality casting operations.  For example:
Efficient binder system — ASK Chemicals is setting standards with its ECOCURE HE (High Efficiency) technology, specially developed for the cold-box core binder segment. This generation of high-performance binders features high reactivity and productivity with a 25% reduction in the use of binding agents and catalysts. Additional progress in productivity is achieved through lower contamination of the tools as well as longer availability of tools and permanent molds thanks to the prevention of condensation. By using of ECOCURE™ HE, the surface quality is also improved. This new development offers foundry operators the greatest possible advantages in terms of quality and effectiveness.

Surface coating technologyAutomotive OEMs are requiring foundries to deliver castings with a limited amount of residue. For motor blocks, these limits could be as low as 300 mg per casting, in order to extend maintenance intervals for cars; residue in motor block cavities will clog filters and require more frequent maintenance.

Because water jackets or oil galleries are almost impossible to clean by shot blasting, there is a serious demand for coatings in order to achieve “flawless” casting surfaces, but there is also zero adherence of the coating to the casting surface. Therefore, in some cases, a special machine has to be installed to wash castings — which increases costs and reduces productivity.

MIRATEC, an innovative coating, provides excellent anti-veining and anti-penetration properties, which reduce the coating residue after pouring to a minimum. It has been implementd already by several foundries to address those OEMs’ complex requirements successfully, in a cost effective way.

“Focusing on the needs of our customers on site, we develop customized processes and solutions that rise to the technological challenges faced by modern foundries. All participants benefit from this – both our customers and ASK Chemicals in Russia,” according to Pavel Kuznetsov, managing director of ASK Chemicals in Russia.
