Self-Cleaning Vents for Core Boxes

Three-part design, alloy construction Reduces corebox cleaning requirements Higher quality cores

The self-cleaning properties of ASK CHEMICALS’ ISOVENTS core box vents make the core-shooting process more efficient and productive.  Cost-effective production of cores for high-quality castings is possible only if the components used in the process are carefully matched. Efficient venting of core boxes during the filling and gassing processes is critical to a successful process and quality results.

During core shooting, the air present in the core box is displaced by sand that is injected to the chamber. This requires air to be extracted effectively, particularly at some critical points. Using optimized vents also has a positive influence on the core gassing process because it allows gassing and purging times to be reduced significantly.

The new generation of ISOVENTS was developed with these requirements in mind. The three-part construction in a special alloy material presents the largest possible open surface area. The vents’ design includes a stainless steel hole plate with circular vent holes mounted between two nickel-plated brass carriers. and feature a slightly spring-loaded structure. As a result, they effectively prevent any accumulation of sand grains or resin and, in addition to high venting efficiency they also guarantee that finished cores have smooth surfaces.

Other advantages include easy installation in the core box, thanks to the knurling provided, and the self-cleaning properties of the vents. Thanks to the reduction in the duration and frequency of downtime, overall productivity of core production is optimized significantly.
